a heart that fits in your pocket and you can hear me at night when it's quiet
did a bit of a friends cut/modification. all comms tho. not much was catching my attention. then again my pursuits have been quite narrow of late. i could never get rid of people! I FIND IT IN PEOPLE. PEOPLE > comms. just fyi.

let's chat LJ. i feel talky! all subjects open for discussion. much lazy typing and lack of proper punctuation to follow.

things i have been thinking about include: getting an ipod, i really don't want one cos ugh, it's NOT user friendly with the way i use things so i've been putting it off for a long while now, do i get the touchy one or the classic one? also, can it hook up to a car without the antenna and/or tape adapter accessory cos ugh, do not want... idk, any suggestions welcome

leverage, why are they hitting heavy on the exposition of who the characters are in this new season? for instance the first ep had Eliot explaining to Parker the difference between them and the others on the team, he and Parker are willing to do the immoral thing because that's just how they work and Parker's WANT to be different, her struggle to fight against her natural tendency because she wants to be a better person? OH THIS GIRL. FAVOURITE. i mean yeah i get that certain things need to be said in order to progress a character arc but, oh show, you were so amazing with doing it with subtlety not hitting me over the head with Parker sized anvils

is anyone else loving the subtle Eliot/Sophie slant that's been happening or am i just shipping too hard? i can't figure this one out, beggars should not be choosy cos they're giving me all kinds of Parker/Hardison goodness (please don't moonlight it ptbs you are the very few i have faith in) but Eliot and Sophie seem to have reached a new level of understanding and trust with one another, i guess all it took was for nate to screw up big time for them to find new loyalties? it's almost like there will always be three in that bond tho... oh, what a fine mess you are

potter: hermione, hermione and her sociopathic tendencies and fucking twisted sense of right, this girl is fucked up and no one notices this, i mean a few notice it (Cho Chang woot woo!) but it's not like everyone will accept this fact cos this girl is good at hiding and keeping secret things secret and as much as i begin to understand her i tend to also lose her. OH THIS GIRL. YOU ARE SO FASCINATING AND I CANNOT WRAP MY HEAD AROUND YOU. NEVER LEAVE MY LIFE. ALWAYS DRESS IN GREY.

ron, the lack of awesome in ron, how ron was short changed, how psychotic ron stans get butt hurt over every little disparaging remark against their ickle ronniekins, big FYI: it's okay to not like certain aspects of your favourite character because NOBODY IS PERFECT and grey is a wonderful colour, this makes me like him less and it does not sit well with me, you all love him for what he is and i love him for what he's not... i'm quickly becoming the 'loving the character you love but for completely different reasons' person, mosly i'm sad at how little joanne really loved him, cos if she did he wouldn't be a stunted twelve year old

luna lovegood and her blank profile page, like, what do we REALLY know about her? i'll tell you what: NOTHING besides the fact that she's okay with being a fringe person and sees what others overlook, i need more for her THIS is the closest thing i've gotten to for her character building, fandom Y U NO WRITE MORE LUNA

harry potter is an idiot, i love this boy but really, he's an idiot. his emotional logic is all fucked up: he can't marry hermione, this goes back to how the trio is really built around ron not so much around harry. harry needs ron because he's the first person he latched on to emotionally, the first person that validated his existence so, yes, significant but everything there after (all boy stuff excluded... actually, maybe because of all the boy stuff included) harry's emotional decisions toward hermione were contingent on his relationship with ron, harry can't live without ron, harry can't afford to lose ron, harry can't afford to lose hermione so harry marries the next best thing, they all kind of settle for second best, if the war didn't happen my kids would have and i can't talk about it anymore cos it's raining on my face

harry can't marry ron so he marries ginny. he's a weasley, YAY!FAMILY! but uhm, ginny's not your favourite weasley she's just the weasley that you're allowed to fuck. what does that do for my girl? it places her in a state of servitude and takes away her agency. she becomes devoted wife, loving mother but what does this leave her in terms of being a person, a woman? she's a quidditch player (popularity) she's a fashionista (beauty) defined by these exhausted celebrity tropes, she's a trophy wife! SHE BECOMES A FUCKING TROPHY WIFE. ugh. gah. this grates me. forgotten is her understanding of what it means to be possessed, forgotten is the potential that her presence and knowledge could contribute to winning (after a year with tom she may have a bigger understanding of what makes him tick and or exploit a weakness yet unseen, i'm sure family played a big part in that) forgotten is her tenacity to reform and fight the war from within the limited constriction of hogwarts, when she marries harry she's reduced and i can't talk about it anymore cos it's raging on my face

tl;dr: the kids hide behind the 'normalcy' of life instead of owning the dirty bits *sigh*

I have an iPod Nano, and I can hook it up in my truck by using a little cable. I know I plug it into the auxiliary outlet, but I don't know the name of the cable. But I also think some CD players come with an iPod dock, so it just depends on the system. I prefer touchscreen.
Sunnysunny_serenity on July 8th, 2011 11:25 pm (UTC)
well, my car is from 2002, not too savvy with the hookups there... *sigh* decisions decisions cos my cd player works fine i don't really see a need for it. *shrug*

i lost my ipod and I didn't even know it. I guess that is my opinion of ipods. But then again I have an htc thunderbolt so i really don't need a separate music player anymore.
Sunny: Music TnS whanah?sunny_serenity on July 8th, 2011 11:26 pm (UTC)
oh see! i kinda want that a phone/musicy player thingamabob. convenient and i don't have to pack much on a plane.
Avid Beader: h/hr heartavidbeader on July 8th, 2011 01:27 pm (UTC)
Yes, iPods can be hooked up to car stereos in a variety of ways; I found that the cable method works best for clear sound. Bluetooh and antenna methods depend on clear or very not-clear radio signals.

I hear you, though. I had an iPod that I don't use anymore because I got an iPhone that would hold my music and I have a tiny iPod Shuffle that I only use for going to work out at the gym.

I'm just staying out of the way of Potter-mania. I mourned the death of the series years ago and I'm not at all caught up in this end-of-an-era thing. I'm just trying to respect my friends who still cherish the series in its entirety and are feeling it.
Sunny: HP noisesunny_serenity on July 8th, 2011 11:28 pm (UTC)
my bro has the antenna thing and it's okay except for when we're going through tunnels and the like. hard wire is best i suppose. and exactly, i just need it for like working out and plane rides.

ugh, i hate that i got so caught up in it. i KNEW i should've stayed away... i think it hits me really hard cos i didn't read the last book properly so i've not completely grieved... i'm more of a rager so... oh. gah. idekanymore... ~FEELINGS!

I mourned the death of the series years ago and I'm not at all caught up in this end-of-an-era thing.

I watched the premiere but was left rather cold by it all. Well, I wasn't anywhere close to bawling my eyes out. :-) Not even a little bit, not even by the end bit. It was interesting to watch though.

I posted my general feelings over on HarryHermione but, yeah, Rowling ruined the series so much I just can't view the adoring crowds with anything but shades of contempt. Why oh why do they let her get away with it? Sigh.

i was rather miffed for quite a few years when that travesty of a fifth movie came out and i completely boycotted everything potter from then until about six months ago when i was taken to DHP1 and ugh, i hate myself. so. much. for falling back into it double fold... such a creature of habit and comfort. i admire your attitude towards it and totally wish to attain that level of cynicism once more. i have a feeling with with the r/hr kiss and it's less than enthusiastic review i will be firmly planted in the donotwant camp once more. lol!
Sophiesarahsoph on July 8th, 2011 02:49 pm (UTC)
I say if you get one go for the classic. I never really wanted an iPod when I first got one because it felt like playing into all the cool hype around them rather than because of what was actually best, but nothing else had the storage space. I like having my whole music collection with me so I can listen to whatever I want if I happen to be in the mood for it.

I don't know about subjects for discussion, but yes! talk is good!

One thing I hate about about Harry Potter is how it's all from his point of view, and how a lot of the annoying things where we're not able to make any sense of things could be explained because Harry is absolutely oblivious when it comes to some things so he's not noticing them, but argh.

I have a head canon thing where little Harry had a crush on Hermione but refused to do anything about it because he realised Ron also had a crush on her and had the guilts about getting all the attention instead of Ron so he didn't do anything about it. So Hermione, who had a thing for both of them thought Harry didn't think about her like that so channelled it all at Ron instead and kind of repressed the Harry feelings. If that makes sense.

Sometimes I wish there wasn't any endgame romances in this book and they'd just stayed friends instead. I mean, really, how many people end up meeting the 'love of their life' in high school? And they all do?

I hate the ruination of Ginny's character. There were so many subtle hints that she was this awesome character doing awesome things, but it seemed as if all her importance was in terms of romance. I spent a lot of my time reading the books not really caring or knowing who I wanted to get together in the end of them (a weird state of being for because I shipped almost everything I was into, so I was very confused), and for a while I very much liked the idea of Ginny and Harry more than any other, but then it happened and there was just no proper development of a relationship there that I hated it and it ruined it for me. :(

And I so much wish there had been mention of the ramifications of the second book for Ginny. She went through such an ordeal, there should have been issues for her, massive issues, and argh.

Wow, now I've rambled on things a lot. Why is it whenever you talk about Potter stuff, I start rambling and thinking about it all as well?
Sunny: HP o childrensunny_serenity on July 8th, 2011 11:44 pm (UTC)
yah, see, i never really bought into what everyone else has cos, uh, i just didn't. plus i didn't like it's interface. NOT me-as-a-user friendly so i rebelled. i'll have to do more research, possibly leaning more towards the classic just for that memory aspect alone.

indeed. the narrative story is very much so hindered by the boy's pov and lack of understanding because um, raised.in.a.cupboard. so unless things are put into a language he can understand he won't get it.

your head canon makes total sense. fandom tends to write hermione's crush pov and it's kind of sickening to me and very very ooc or flowery and uh, are they reading the same books as me cos hermione is not a flowery person. so... i have fandom issues that are neither here nor there, moving along. in that vein i'm all on a harry's crush pov cos it doesn't make sense to him the way it normally makes sense *see previous paragraph and the crapilogue just ruined everything. i mean EVERYTHING. not just ships but interpersonal dynamics and team workiness and frenemy times with draco and just... it's all over the place and back to that flowery poetic kind of ending and ugh, LIFE IS NOT THAT NEAT AFTER YOU'VE FOUGHT A WAR, you know? rawr rawr rawr...

ginny ended up becoming what lavender became: the obtainable object the hero must own. all her 'awesomeness' and 'perfectness' for harry folded in on itself and she became a cookie cutter trope of fangirl/housewife/mother and disregarded all that makes a woman WOMAN. did we forget she fought in a war too? and what does that say about her that she is willing to be one dimensional for harry? like, really? does joanne even pay attention to her own words? confused. and lords of kobol don't get me started on the screen h/g cos, ugh... no. just... no.

ginny would either be a fucking raging alcoholic or a thrill seeking adventurer after her possession by voldemort. hnnng and see, this is where her thing with neville would have been fanfuckingtabulous cos he would be the anchor for her just because he's the complete opposite of what harry is. he's quiet and unassuming and understanding and can express himself in a much more healthier way than the boy wonder ever could because neville is a badass that holds shit together in a crisis and is calm and thoughtful and aaaaaaahhhhhhh!! just, oh my kids would have been perfect and beautiful and contained rage. the boy understands plant cycles and would use that to help ginny channel her angst and rage into something productive and life sustaining and just... just... IHAVESOMANYFEELINGSICANNOT.

i enjoy our rambling sessions. *squish*
Sophiesarahsoph on July 9th, 2011 05:28 am (UTC)
I see Hermione as being the type of person who would let their head rule over their feelings to the point where she might even deny those feelings if they didn't make sense to her way of thinking. There's so way she would be the swooning crush sort of person at all.

I hate the epilogue for so many reasons, mostly because it feels so obviously tacked onto the end in a way that shuts down all the speculation and ties it up far too neatly. I don't like how happy it is. Because however many years on (and ignoring the issues of the happily ever after cliches), sure they've moved on and rebuilt, but would it still be that easy? People have died and they've been through so much, aren't there still going to be issues floating around?

Even little things like, aren't the parents worried about their kids going off to school, because even if most of the danger they were under while they were there was because of Voldemort, there was still a lot of other dangers. And how during the war things quickly turned into that blood status bigotry (trying the right term here) and so many people went along with it. Wouldn't wizarding society still be messed up because of that? It takes a long time to change things like that. Everything's made to seem so simple and happy and ugh.

This is where books getting turned into movies can have real problems. There's so much in the books and they can't keep it all in, but they've put so little of the Harry and Ginny stuff in that it's even less believable than in the books and feels like it's just there for the sake of being there.

My head cannon completely has Ginny as a bit of a thrilloholic. I think she'd be a reckless and rather aggressive quidditch player and be channelling a lot of things into playing that.

*squishes back* Rambling sessions are great!

I have an iPod Nano, I don't use it much, because usually I just take it with me when I'm on a plane, train,... :P I would go for the iPod touch! :D

Ugh. All of this is why I read the cliff notes on the series and then created my own mental canon. why, JK? whyyyy?

Pfft. And yes, what IS with all the weird exposition on Leverage lately? I'm not sure what to think about that. SHOW, DON'T TELL, PEOPLE.
But I am seriously loving Parker & Hardison. You saw today's episode, yeah? ahahaha, lol. IL THEM SO HARD.
Sunny: Leverage Parker winksunny_serenity on July 12th, 2011 10:33 pm (UTC)
mental canon ftw! ...wait. fanon land is a wonderful place to live. i will most promptly re-read OotP and a whole shitload of fix it fic to ease this passing.

IDEK, BB. just... why are you becoming conventional in your exposition and character development???? but yes, the Parker/Hardison evolution is brill... are talking about the murder mystery one? cos that ep was boring kinda, but if we're talking about the not!captain!hammer!is!a!hero! one? also boring. they have been very awesome with the kids but lacking on the why do i care about this case again and how it affects nate and his man!pain? and it just makes me ship sophie/eliot more so... yeah.
