Dani Reese/Charlie Crews - Life
Hate is a strong word. I just never paid close attention to this aspect of the show. Very rarely do I change my mind about things once all the options have been weighed. I make a decision and stick to it. I can enumerate how many times this phenomenon has be thwarted on one prehensile multi-phalange'd body part. Being converted from a Reese,Crews (or alternately Reese&Crews) state to a Reese/Crews state bowled me over. At first I was all YAY! Partnership-ship and AWESOMELY different people being alternately broken and fixed yet complimentary. GREAT PARTNERSHIP IN THE MAKING! Much like Scully and Mulder, whom I didn't ship-ship until much much later. But back to Life, I never saw them as ship-ship, yes I know, contradictory seeing as how partner!ship is one of my biggest and fave kinks but they never read that way to me. Never had a hint of 'romance' or 'lurve' or any of those mushy feeling things because A) Dani is so... DANI and prickly and 'leave me alone or I will shoot you in the foot cos I AM DAMAGE'. B) Charlie comes from a similar broken place but can still see the healing and the benefit from learning to let go. They're both in two very different places on the spectrum of recovery yet both still so very broken. Retrospectively, there were many things predisposing me to shipping them; that totally AWESOME scene of partnership and trust in Merit Badge (FUCKING PILOT EPISODE DUDES), the AA meetings and badass pwnage in Powerless, the fruit, the confrontation of 'Dad, did you put an innocent man in prison?', the potential of untangling the conspiracy with Dani which would undoubtedly produce EPIC partner!love, the 'Detective New Money', the exasperation of patience, the faith talk in The Fallen Woman, the half-assed attempt on Dani's part to heal herself, the you are each others last hope of surviving in the LAPD (a la Lynley/Havers), it was all there. I guess I was overwhelmed by the brilliant magnitude of the individual characters that ship was the last thing on my mind. It wasn't until the axe dropped on the season two (which I didn't pay much attention to because, what?!) finale I went: 'OH! I can see the ship-ship starting...', buuut then it ended up being the series finale and I was bummed because just when I could see them being EPIC PARTNERSHIP-SHIP + SHIP-SHIP OF EPICNESS, there would never be no more. *sad* Then, as always, the soothing balm of fanfic took away the sting. A fic that so brilliantly illustrated the 'where do we go from here' factor can be found in Seven Veils at anjoufic. Let ye be warned, 'tis a WIP and it's left hanging at the Dani chapter but OMG!ITSSOGOODYOUHAVETOREADIT!

Most awesomest vid that captures everything that you could possibly love about them:

Day 27 - A pairing that you loved and ended up hating?
Day 28 - A pairing that you will never understand?
Day 29 - What ship had the best proposal?
Day 30 - Your favorite ship forever and ever and ever!

HOLY CRAP.
Providence is kinda totally epic too. Ye gods, two E/O WIPs at the same time? I'm going to die, alright? DIE I TELL YOU.
These two freakin' wear me out.

Also these two from life are kinda prickly and adorable at the same time, how does that possibly work?
Mind you, I haven't seen the show yet, but there's a certain amount of awesome floating around them. *notes to self* iz tiem for web marathonz.

What? NO! You will not suck me into another WIP that will make me check for updates everysingledayoftheweek. I will stay strong. STRONG! Plus, I'm rewatching the whole thing from the beginning so I kind of have enough E/O on my plate right now. I forgot how angsty canon was, ye gads! It also puts fic in its proper place and I go: 'oh hey, fandom got this shit on lock way more than TPTBs do.'

Yes yes. They are awesome-ization personified. From the very first ep you will love them. They make you want to invest without you even knowing it. S1 is superb and amazeballs and genius and just... WIN! S2 is kinda wonky but I blame that on the network because NBC is stupid.

No, don't worry, I'm not gonna do it. That was more a general conversation remark xD
unless you want it to be an enabling one...
And yes- all the angst of fic? Most of it comes in one way or another from the show. That's part of why I watch so sporadically- it can be a total downer.

One thing though- totally like Twilight in that you know it's bad when fandom writes the characters better than the writers. *snicker*

We already know NBC's stupid, I suppose that shouldn't be a big shocker. *grumble*

IDEK. If I get bored/lazy enough this week I may look it up cos OMG!WHYHASATLANTISNOTBEENUPDATED?!?!?! See, this WIP stuff drives me batty. I'll just bide my time with SVU marathons. I've roped The Old Man into it too! He's watching it when he has nothing to do. But oi, it gets very heavy when you watch it back to back to back to back... you kind of feel the strain it takes on the characters when you see it in context. OH! And the plot & character continuity of the earlier seasons?! FREAKING. GENIUS. Oh, show!

LOL! TRUFAX!

Ugh. I should boycott them. They really suck.
